The right-wing-nuts (corporate overlords, anti-elite elites, and bottom-feeder/brownshirt/dupes included) seem to want to destroy/belittle public education as they want people not to be educated so they end up more conservative/patriotic/ignorant/easy to manipulate (this has been a general policy on all sides since prussia i guess, but the grwoing army of home-schooled potential christian fascist soldiers is still worrying (as seen in chris hedges work).
