Admittedly I skim-read it, but the gist is quite clear. The paper was written in March last year, so essentially de-coupling of the west with the rest was yet to happen re Ukraine SMO. I share your views about the green issues. It's a sheer fantasy that renewables will replace fossil fuel in toto, especially coupled with the fact that we have other dwindling (mineral) resources, never mind the current food production scare and zapped biological diversity etc. The golden billion (i.e. the west), as Pepe Escobar terms it, is truly over the barrel now. One hope is China and Russia with the global south etc. It's scary since they are about to up the stakes and increase production using scarce resources. It's the colonial mindset that considers that they shouldn't do so for the betterment of their own population/s. Plus, one hopes, they are rational Meanwhile, I can't see the west managing the climate collapse. That train has left a while back (if it ever was conceivable or true). They are done and just about good enough for plastic bag management and hot air imo.
