I think this chart is very challengeable. The idea that China's GDP will continue to grow exponentially to the levels indicated in this chart (six times its present level) is totally ludicrous. There are not enough resources in the entire solar system to support that predicted level of economic activity in China or the US for that matter. China's economy is no different from any other economy, it is based on the unsustainable use of the planet's resources and light years of debt, not just fiscal debt, but debt to our ecological systems, and is just as likely to fold like a pack of cards as all the other economies built this way. The world's economy is basically a Ponzi scheme of galactic proportions; wishful thinking has built it, reality will bring it down. So no, that chart doesn't in reality explain anything at all.
