...to continue, i also had in mind spiritual con artist Helena Blavatsky - after supposed travels in india, she invented a magical immaterial guru who taught her (and only her) the 'true buddhism' in a language no indians had ever heard of - it's clear for anyone who knows anything about buddhism that she was pretty much full of shite - this guru was strangely light skinned too, and also part of the 'great white brotherhood' (supposedly not a skin reference). She then put some of this into her ridculous books, including a huge dollop of disgusting pro-aryan racism ('which was the style at the time' (that's a abe simpson reference, not a real observation)) - subsequently having a not inconsiderable influence on the batty nonsense many nazi types followed (i'm sure this sort of waffle was just a handy excuse for being a cnut for most nazis, just as nietzche's sister's version of nietzcshe was). Anyway, cultural appropriation to me can mean things like that.
