Legal issues with doing stuff like that thanks to thatcher/blair etc (or more than the European average anyway) - anything that can be classed as 'political' and not directly connected to an employment dispute would be illegal to strike about afaik and the union can get sued - plus it needs the TUC to call an official general strike and they're not very radical as a rule. Unions (including tuc) have been talking about and doing 'synchronised strikes' though, strikes that are already on coordinating their action days, which is about as far as our embarrassing labour laws allow currently. I guess one possible upside of sunk* bringing in more restrictions on striking is it may encourage more bolshiness on that front (more wildcat type stuff etc). *just though it amusing that spellcheck always corrects sunak to sunk so thought I'd leave it in
