Yeah sure, 'market forces' mean rough and ready 'pile em high' style operations will dominate as a rule, but some would say there's nonetheless a bit of a golden age in breeding at the moment with the space for such being opened up by legal situation in usa and other places - supposedly more long term breeding projects and more niche/connoisseur varieties can be gone for much more than was the case in the recent past. (I don't know about that myself (I'll try and dig out the article I read it in), but I'd love to be able to get the varieties and qualities available in some American states over here)
