Ssh! As more people/burn wood/coal to save money: a memo re: PM 2.5 health problems/deaths. .
Funny innit. PM 2.5 particulates cause infinitely more deaths and serious chronic illness than Covid across all age ranges - yet our misleaders and media who,er, care so very, very deeply about our health and well-being stay largely silent re PM 2.5 and the increasing stench of PM 2.5-loaded smoke from the ever-growing number of homes where owners - even in urban and suburban areas - are cluelessly or selfishly turning back to burning wood and coal as the price of everything soars ever skywards thanks to America's proxy war against Russia in Ukraine.
Even here in winter Spain the air reeks - especially in the evenings - of wood and coal smoke in suburban, urban areas and beyond.

It's about far more than just "lung health" of course:
"Exposure to PM2.5 can cause illnesses like asthma, COPD, coronary heart disease, stroke, and lung cancer. There is also evidence that links PM2.5 to low birth weight, diabetes and diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson's."
"Almost 6% of adult deaths are linked by PM2.5 each year"
"According to figures published by the Office of Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID), in 2020 around 5.6% of deaths in those aged over 30 could be attributed to PM2.5 air pollution. That's around 1 in every 18 deaths."
"The most damaging particles are minuscule particles, known as PM10 and PM2.5. PM2.5 particles are invisible to the naked eye and small enough to pass through the lungs, into the bloodstream, and into your organs. Generally, they come from the combustion of solid and liquid fuels, through power generation, domestic heating and in-vehicle engines."
