Chomsky, even in his advanced age, is still standing head and shoulders above the understanding of the liberal/left in the UK. Not only did the 'left' in the PLP not offer a whisper of protest against the ghastly appearance of Zelensky in Westminster, they rolled out the obsequious, servile, praise, usually reserved for serfs bowing low to their lord and master. This is typical of the Labour left. Even under Corbyn's stint in the pulpit, they never really aimed at power. They knew well what their role was in the parliamentary game. This explains why Corbyn and his team never went on the offensive during the antisemitism campaign; they never wanted to win. Corbyn never wanted the job in the first place. After so many decades in the Labour Party, he knew how it functioned. 'Make sure I don't get ####ing elected!' They didn't resist and fight back because they didn't want to. They never wanted to ride on the wave that lifted them far above their ambitions. They knew the demands of the grassroots were totally unrealistic and if pushed too far would risk distabilizing the system. Chomsky's analysis is so depressing, as we slide seemingly, inexorably towards nuclear armeggdon.
