Up here in't Lancashire my two chums and myself have lunch every Tuesday in a local cafe where most meals are under £10. The best value is a decent slice of ham, two eggs and chips for £7.95. It used to be a fiver. This cafe is cheaper than most hereabouts, and many places have nearly doubled their prices in the past eighteen months. Most pubs are charging £4 a pint (my local is £3.35 for bitter) and yet a pub down the road where my son goes to watch football it's just over two quid. The place is heaving on match days so they can afford to keep prices low.
