Margaret Thatcher, who despite her viciousness was not an unintelligent or bad Conservative leader, was once asked what her greatest achievement was? She shot back, almost without thinking, the creation of New Labour! How asute and harshly honest she was. New Labour signified the almost total destruction of Old Labour social democracy. She destroyed the politics of the 'working class' and destroyed the Unions too. Which was no mean achievement. It's telling and rather sad, that the British class system nutures people with outstanding ability and ruthless ambition, like Thatcher, who are rewarded handsomely for their betrayal of their own class, the ordinary working people. It's also depressing that the left don't seem able to produce leaders with Thatcher's qualities to challenge the system anymore. The last one was the Miners leader Arthur Scargill. Isn't it odd how he's been 'canceled', like he's already dead? There's a lesson there for the left I'm sure. But are they capable of learning it?
