I have to say I'm in the sceptical camp. A lot of his lines seem to be too perfectly on message (for the Russians) and then other times he's very vague. He may have been in the "Legion" but all this "I planned to infiltrate..." stuff rings very false. The video clips/photographs shown of him are very limited and most don't relate to the audio that is placed over the top of them. I don't know whether he's a spook, a fantasist, an opportunist or he's telling the complete truth and is being propagandised but it definitely feels dodgy. There are also some simple questions like, if he was on the run fearing for his life, in Istanbul, calls his family to get money for a plane ticket, why wouldn't he fly home instead of Russia? Why didn't he have any money after serving as a mercenary for a year? If this guy was a walk-in at an embassy the spooks would have red lights going off all over the place.
