    I agree that we should have had a public health/track and trace system in place (and actual stockpikles of ppe, like cygnus advised), but we didn't - given we didn't lockdown was the best option imo.

    Pouncing on people with symptoms and 'shielding' them would likely have had the issues described in the study above and ended up with 10s of thousands more dead people than we had (though it's 'only' maths/modelling).
