Express: Suella Braverman orders 'woke' police to protect free speech and focus on fighting crime Archived Message

I expect they'll be calling on Tim davie to tell him off for cancelling Larry Ginekar...

So that's the 'woke' police, not the 'woke-police' (or maybe it's the 'woke-police-police'). Hey, it's a good job we've got these freedom fighters like the telegraph, suella braverman and, er... *checks notes* the police to defend us against the woke establishment isn't it? (who better to save us from the establishment? they already know where it is). Reminds me a bit of tucker Carlson bemoaning the mainstream media from the largest news media show in his country/the world, paid by one of the richest people in the world. Ani-establishment-ism is safe in the establishment's hands.

I read the other day that in Ron 'we will fight woke on the beaches' desantis' Florida, they brought in a 'Stop WOKE' act (with some tortuous acronym to get the W.O.K.E.), so they actually had to define 'woke' in legal terms. What they ended up with after cutting all the innuendo and ominous tones, was something like 'the belief that there are systemic injustices, and that we have to fight them' - I can't believe anyone would disagree with this bland statement - even the anti-wokes and anti-anti-racists think there are systemic injustices (eg too many 'woke' policies - and so the snake eats its own tail).

(usual LBN nuance-disclaimer: of course that doesn't make the establishment types that make 'woke' noises for economic/political profit (while still doing un-woke capitalism) into the goodies, more like tweedle dum. I follow a simple rule of thumb: if they're a billionaire (or paid by one), woke or anti-woke, they're not on your side (unless you're also one I guess))

"Common sense policing will today be restored when officers are ordered to focus on tackling crime instead of hurt feelings. Suella Braverman will introduce new rules that require forces to focus on serious offences rather than policing social media.

The Home Secretary says officers must be allowed to get on with catching dangerous criminals instead of being dragged into political rows.

She told the Daily Express: "Brave police officers up and down the country work day in, day out to keep the public safe.

“That is what they are there to do, and we will continue to support them to fulfil this vital role.

“It is only common sense that their focus must remain on catching dangerous criminals and bringing them to justice, not getting embroiled in political debate where no laws are being broken

    Burble burble...etc"
