I've recently heard a number of Green politicians talking about how we know what needs to be done in relation to global warming and the alternatives to fossil fuels are ready and waiting for us to transition. One said that all the remaining fossil fuels must remain in the ground! I kind of agree with them, in principle. However, I simply don't see it happening anytime soon. The Greens don't seem to really 'do' economics. That's a shame. Abandoning fossil fuels, means turning Capitalism on its head and inside out. I don't see it surviving in anything like its present form. The Greens seem to just skip this part of the Great Transition, which is understandable, but worrying too. Radically changing western Capitalism is a big ask. Oddly, it's the right who understand this and see the Green agenda as the biggest threat to the 'free market' and capitalism ever, socialism in disguise.
