Dissent, oppositon, debate, questioning, criticism, freedom of speech, a free press... none of it survives... total war. Of course the double-standards and hypocrisy, the censorship, are an integral part of modern industrial scale warfare, because it's so incredibly destructive. So, we've returned to WW1 style state control and rampant militarism and structural censorship, and propaganda, with a vengeance. Increasingly, the UK, as an example, resembles a one-party state in relation to foreign policy and especially the war in Ukraine. All the parties, or political factions, agree, with hardly a political voice raised in opposition.
