"It is interesting that the author believes that Ukrainian military is in fact much stronger than what has been leaked out etc. All as part of the deception. For example he think that F16s might yet appear in the skies come offensive, more tanks, more soldiers."

-He might well be right. The first casualty of war is the truth: "...It would be more realistic to expect between 600 and 800 NATO tanks, whose crews will be well-trained professional NATO soldiers and not Ukrainians. A much larger number of armored vehicles and artillery weapons must also be expected. Likewise, we can be quite sure that a large number of F-16 and F-15 aircraft piloted by NATO pilots will “suddenly” appear over the skies of Ukraine and Novorossiya."

I think the mercenary numbers have suffered from "returnee disillusionment" and might be well below what is expected but to compensate on the shortfall NATO has most likely given lots of its own official troops, pilots and tankies an "early retirement"- amounting to a huge pay rise and a Ukrainian uniform... and that this is quickly becoming not just Ukraines last throw of the dice but against Russia but NATOs. The Russians though appear to have considered likewise and are talking precautions, which is why they have been intensively working on those defensive back-stops we have seen reported.

Its an interesting reversal: the Ukrainians/ NATO spent seven years building defenses that they hoped the Russians would throw themselves against and die, though it turns out the Russians were not so stupid...now verso: here's the Russians: admittedly with not seven years to build them up but of a mindset that the Ukrainians might do the same.

Will Ukraine be "hoisted by its own petard" in such a way? Time will tell but as I have pointed out before and as the writer underlines, the Ukrainians are fighting a "Performative" war: unlike the Russians they are driven by the need for foreign approval and propaganda impetus whilst the Russians tend to deal with only military necessity.
