I was enthusiastic about Corbyn's surprise elevation to leader of the Labour Party. He rode on a wave of grassroots revulsion against what the party had become. All that youthful idealism and activism... deserved so much more in return. Alas, Corbyn wasn't cut out for the role thrust opon him by chance, or was it destiny? He, basically, neutered the movement that lifted him way, way, above his pay grade. He liked bein a backbencher, not a leader in the glare of the media, viciously focusing on his weaknesses. If only he'd supported the mandatoru re-selection fo MPs, just that one thing, whould have possibly made a real difference for the future and shifted the balance of power away from the PLP and the party machine, towards the rank and file membership. A party of the people, not the powerful. But, it's all ####ing water under the bridge now. The ghastly 'grownups' have seized power once more, as usual, with a vengeance. Corbyn will never be allowed anywhere near power again. Not in our lifetimes. So sad, and what a wasted opportunity it was. If only he and the people around him weren't so ####ing hopeless.
