The second factor is geopolitical. The government’s foreign policy – which aims to establish Turkey as a Great Power and independent mediator between East and West – complements its economic nationalism. Is it not strange that the author does not mention Turkey's possible joining of BRICs and SCO? Isn't that geopolitical? To typify Turkey as just mediator misses a number of relevant points. |
