'its not Russia that's at threat of defeat: it's NATO and the west.' - yup, and of course Mason takes Zelensky's word for it about Russia planning to bomb the nuclear plant, whereas the obvious motive of blowing it to entice NATO into the conflict doesn't occur to him (more likely he just ignores it, as with the dam). Nor does the point that the west has already introduced nukes to the conflict by way of DU tank shells. re: the miraculous 40 y/o F16s, interesting point about the intakes. Further, my understanding is that since they're not stealth they'll have to fly at treetop level or get immediately swatted out of the sky by Russian SAMs. And how exactly are the US/NATO supposed to destroy the black sea fleet, as threatened? Any conventional attack would get smashed to pieces, unless they managed to sneak a load of subs in or something. It's in Russia's back garden at a time when they've fully mobilised their military. It'll be years before NATO or even the US itself are capable of mounting a force strong enough to confront them and not get immediately routed. Unless they throw literally everything they've got at them. Or start lobbing 'tactical nukes' themselves, with or without deniability. As ever it's the West which is the real danger here, as the imperial power slowly losing its dominance. Mason et al are projecting while they encourage the west to go all in against Russia (soon to be followed by China), in a way that could very possibly lead to full-scale nuclear war. It's tempting to dismiss them as delusional clowns were the stakes not so high... I
