Sources from the intelligence community in Washington and London have been aware of this unrest being fomented for two weeks. They strongly deny any role in funding this unrest. It is uncertain why such information then wasn't forward to Macron during this time. It is too early to tell whether this revolt will succeed in regime change in France, and whether Marie Le Pen and the far right will succeed in making use of this unrest to stage a putsch.
