Having said that, he's entitled to his opinion. I've actually communicated with the man, but I've agreed not to reveal what he wrote. Suffice to say, he is in real life much as he appears in print. What I cannot stomach from Simon Tisdall is that while he's composing this literary equivalent of a five ring circus, some tens of thousands of the Ukrainians that he tells us he's supporting are dying in extreme pain. But he proffers no solution. As the war heats up and our dangers increase he remains siloed in his self-righteousness.
