It's clear as day that the much touted Ukrainian offensive designed to radically alter the course of the war, is almost a total failure. This means, objectively, that they cannot win the conflict with Russia in any meaningful sense. They cannot take back territory from Russia by force and they risk losing even more as their army collapses having smashed itself to pieces attacking Russian lines.

To save Ukraine, will Poland intervene? This is a high risk strategy for Poland. They lose on the battlefield and then drag Nato in on their side and then Nato is defeated too and Nato then resorts to using tactical nuclear weapons as a last resort to avoid total defeat.

The Russians have obviously been aware of the dangers of escalation, which is why they have held back so many forces and prepared carefully if they have to fight Poland and then Nato in what amounts to a much bigger war which could call WW3.

The Russians are prepared to fight Nato if forced to and they think they cannot be defeated by a Nato attack and that means they have won the conflict. Russia can't be defeated because they will use their nuclear weapons to avoid such an outcome, like the loss of Crimea. The big terrible question is, will Nato use their nuclear weapons first in order to break through the Russian defensive lines rather than risk defeat on the battlefield?
