via https://ranprieur.com/ I found this psychological study fascinating for the power dynamics it reveals in abusive families where the child has felt the need to cut off ties with the parent. The contorted denials and refusal to accept criticism, even to the point where they say no criticism was ever made and the decision came completely out of the blue, are something to behold, as well as the group reinforcement of the denial to avoid the threat of admitting fault and letting go of control... A load of parallels to the behaviour of corporate media, as always when you get into the workings of abusive behaviour: "The criticism is wrong. Those making it are doing so out of malice. What I am doing is fine and my intentions are good, so even if I cause pain I am not at fault. The criticism is exaggerated. The criticism is ridiculous and petty. I will only respond to one criticism which is easily disproved or minimised and ignore the rest. Ultimately the criticism is nullified. It doesn't exist. Therefore the behaviour of the one who made the criticism comes as a complete surprise, cannot be explained, is irrational or even pathological, harming me - a good person - for absolutely no reason." etc etc.
