A weekend 'mini-festival' is being held in Machynlleth, mid-Wales on 16-17 September to mark 50 years since Pinochet's bloody overthrow (aided and abetted by H. Kissinger and the CIA) of the socialist government led by Salvador Allende. Obviously the coup itself is no cause for celebration, but the event will honour the memory of Pinochet's victims and highlight the great flowering of Chilean music, poetry and art around the time of Allende's Popular Unity government, and in the shadow of the subsequent dictatorship: https://elsuenoexiste.wordpress.com/ |
