Impressive demonstration in support of Julian outside the Australian high commission in London this afternoon. The weekly protest was swelled in numbers by the looming fifth anniversary (tomorrow) of his incarceration in Belmarsh prison, and made quite an impact, with plenty of hoots from passing traffic and solidarity expressed by sympathizers from abroad - notably the Netherlands - who reminded us of the regular vigils in support of Julian in many European cities (tonight - Amsterdam) which we are not permitted to know much about. Word came through of Biden's cogitation from Stella in the pub afterwards, and indubitably lifted spirits. If - a big if - Julian is freed, it will be down to the amazing, unrelenting tenacity of the small band of supporters who for years have unfailingly come out week after week, whatever the weather, to embarrass the authorities and demand his release. As one of them put it this afternoon: 'Julian is in our hearts.' There is another anniversary event tomorrow (Thursday) outside the Ecuadorian embassy in London at 1pm to mark his illegal, obscene abduction from said premises.
