'Despite killing tens of thousands of civilians, Israel has not been able to defeat Hamas or achieve its objectives in Gaza.' Stated objectives. It should be glaringly obvious by now that Israel doesn't really care about destroying Hamas, freeing hostages or keeping international opinion on its side. What they really wanted was to kill thousands of civilians, destroy all the infrastructure that makes Gaza liveable and terrorise the entire population into leaving. It is getting very close to achieving these objectives which (for the most part) remain unstated. Not that Hamas haven't succeeded in their own objectives and caused significant damage to the IOF, but what does it amount to if it's no longer possible to live in Gaza and the population gets cleared out? |
