thanks. I've actually seen the process occur in real time in an office setting. the boss is reading aloud from an MSM article rubbishing 'conspiracy theories' The newly appointed 19 year old pops up and raises a factual point which rebuts the article and creates a moment of tension. 5 grown men sit in silence all eyes on the boss to gauge the correct response - the seconds tick by. The boss breaks the silence with an irrelevent and non-sensical quip which in no way addresses the point raised. 5 grown men laugh politely at those 'crazy conspiracy theories'. the 'kid' is silenced permenantly on this topic as a key rule of his working life becomes apparent. |
