Malcom X or Do the Right Thing (probably this is his best feature film but I'd have his Katrina documentaries as probably the best things he's done) with Clockers, 25th Hour and Inside man on the second tier. I'm not really that much of a fan of his to be honest and personal choices will vary but his earlier films are so much better than whatever this late period is supposed to be.

Most directors, even most artists, fade away with age but he's just fallen off a cliff. I think he just does whatever he wants to and because of his name people just go along with it and the critics tend to treat it all like the Emperors's New Clothes. There's also a cult of his fans that are always trying to defend these lemons with "Is this your first Spike Lee film?" or "It's not really for you" and some other talking points that get more explicity into race (i.e. you don't get it whitey ).

There's also plenty of people online that just rubbish anything by him just out of racism or culture war nonsense, but what gets me so annoyed about it is the massive disconnect between the terrible quality of the product and the fawning of the critics.
