It's not much of a drop. You can see he gets his feet onto a kind of ledge under the small windows. Maybe a 10 foot drop. He was also very lean so no big deal. Getting away from the immediate area on foot can be faster and less easy to track via camera, especially in a large institution/car park scenario. He'll have had a "switch" somewhere near by and they reported "he ran into a housing state" but then the trail gets colder so clearly the camera contact disappeared which all speaks to some level of skill and planning but it does raise the question of how they found the weapon. A big question for me is they reported finding a screwdriver at the apparent shooting point and said this indicated he had assembled the rifle at that point (it could also have been used for sight adjustment depending on the kit) but the footage of him running to the back of, then jumping off, the roof seems to be immediately after the shot, so he hasn't used the screwdriver to disassemble the rifle even though he clearly isn't carrying an assembled weapon either on the way in or out. Furthermore, you don't disassemble the gun and stow it in your pack only to dump it a short time later "wrapped in a towel" as has been reported unless it's meant to be found which leads into all the messages etched into the rounds, which they seem to have gone quiet about. It's still early days but given the shot and the exfil technique it's not some random raging |
