The country's gone mad

I am just home from the refuse tip where I took garden waste. The site belongs to Surrey County Council and formerly was run by their own staff, numbering two. |
Now outsourced to Suez. On arrival, there is a small queue. An operative asks what you are bringing. He has a walkie talkie and when he gets the sign from another operative further along, to whom he has sent the info on the load, you are sent through. Then there is another directing you to a numbered bay, numbers 1 to 13, into which I had to reverse.
Formerly, we drove in and forwards to the line of skips completely on our own, having passed by the man in a cabin at the entrance who we all knew by name and who had helped me once or twice.
I park up and, on foot, I negotiate a zig zag of red and white barriers and much red and white tape, dragging two heavy jumbo bags, one by one, watched by the operatives, to the appropriate skip. I had already been told that the operatives are not allowed to help. Large signage everywhere reminding of the 2m spacing.
Will all this nonsense stop when the panic/pandemic is over?
