Thread mentions the Mangrove Nine who featured in the SmallAxe film that, as it happens and purely coincidentally, I have just watched.

The Mangrove Nine included Darcus Howe who, some might remember, used to feature fairly regularly on TV. What say you?

Roughly. Don't remember it. I lived in Westbourne Grove/Colville Rd area briefly in late '72/early '73. Wouldn't recognise it now, I guess.

I used to hang around in the area in 60/70/80 etc. but missed this when I was away. In the 60s I still remember seeing the signs on windows 'No Irish, No blacks, No dogs' ads for bedsits in the area. The whole place has gentrified to #### now.

Culminated in Southall in '79 with Blair Peach murder, I guess, ushering in Thatcher, the milk snatcher, era.

I remember being somewhat bemused on visits to London in those days, seeing wanted posters with several Metropolitan Filth in the picture section. Quite liked it though.
