The film is obviously a hard watch but I think director Kevin McDonald did a great job as did actors Tahar Rahim and Jodie Foster. Mohamadou Ould Slahi is an extraordinary person - such a prolonged brual experience would've completely broken most people. It's good that his story will be heard more widely and that Obama's part in his illegal detention is made explicit. Due to his broken promise not to close Guantanamo, how many lives were broken? There are 40 people still held there today.

with the strange complaing that "there were no bad guys" ??!!

I thought it was ok; Tahar Rahim was excellent but the Oscars seemingly missed that performance. Strange that.

Bradshaw is a terrible reviewer and was probably "only following orders" here

Secondly, he participated in the AlQ corrupt US prog against Soviets, at the time (ignored in the docu). My better half insists this may be justice. To a certain degree, yes. Let's not get deluded folks, eh?

You could argue it was justice if he was charged with something realted to his time running with the muj but he wasn't. It was arbitrary detention and torture without charge, for fourteen years. Justice? That would be a hard sell.

Like I said, it was an injustice (in law). It would be too personal (and thus difficult) to try and explain the karmic part. Sorry.
