Reading Stewart Lee's 'March of the Lemmings' I noticed this which made me think less of him: |
'With so many comedians producing newspaper column content, their minor-celebrity status driving traffic through a dead medium, it does get confusing. Mark Steel in The Independent is the best of the comedian columnists, and Marina Hyde is the best of the legitimate journalist-humourists. (p.7)
He also drank the kool aid on Putin supposedly interfering with the Brexit referendum via social media. Somehow he failed to notice the massive MSM bias towards the Remain position, including more than its fair share of fake news hysteria. Funnily enough I don't think I ever heard him mention Julian Assange, though he was one of the few to stick up for Corbyn in the early days (not over a/s)...
I find Hyde unreadable. What I've seen reeks of sneering, high-horse posturing and nauseating dinner-party 'bon mot' tittering. I would run a mile away from the sort of smug shitlib who found it funny (really?? people actually laugh at crap like this?)
