I'm sure you'll have seen it, if not, do - 'A very British coup' is a book by chris mullin MP, made into a pretty good tv series on channel 4 in the 80s - it's based on a left wing working class labour leader winning an election in the 80s and trying to get rid of the US nukes - jolly japes ensue (ie the establishment has to stop them, but in a 'British' way) - obviously about the foot era, but resonant with what we've just been through with Corbyn - really worth a watch, but depressing (there was a remake a few years ago that was ok, but nowhere near as good - secret state I think it was called (more about drones but no socialism)) |
If you can get All4 (4 on demand) it's still on there:
Paul Foot's book on Wallace is one I've meant to get round to reading. 'Smear' by Stephen Dorrill and Robin Ramsay (of Lobster) is apparently another good one about the Wilson plots, though never got round to reading that either (mostly just got stuff from reading lobster)
