Once a week, Nine to Noon host Kathryn Ryan indulges in a ten-minute purview of the media. Her "media analyst" at the moment is one Andrew Holden, who used to be the editor of the Age in Melbourne, and later of the Press in Christchurch.
Sadly, Holden's credentials, and his decades of experience in journalism, don't seem to have made him any more astute than any of the other lamentable media analysts that Ryan has uncritically interviewed over the years, "analysts" like the cowardly former NZ Herald editor Gavin "Mogadon" Ellis.
First topic for the once-over-lightly this morning: the release of the Pandora Papers by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists. "The ICIJ is run by Gerard Ryle, in New York," Holden purrs. "It's the nice WikiLeaks, if you like...."
As always, Kathryn Ryan failed to take him up on that.
