I don't agree with him in regard to the vaccine mandate, though I have some sympathy with anyone who is worried about it. . Unfortunately, health workers, prison officers and others in places in close and near intimate contact with a vulnerable public do have higher duties than to themselves and managers have to regard the health of all patients and clients as paramount. That at least is my opinion and it is rational and I would strongly contend my own moral and ethical duties to myself and my patients is just as robust as any health worker declining vaccination (for non-medical reasons)l. The concerns are there, but could be dealt with by making these rules temporary and ensuring all collected information is destroyed. I think it's wrong to conflate this particular measure with the other problematic legislation of this Tory government. All this legislation should be examined and vigorously opposed on its own (lack of) merit. |
In regard to big pharma, again this is conflating separate issues, as I've discussed ad infinitum in postings here. I completely agree with him. The fact that big pharma make valuable vaccines is ok, that they make massive and obscene profits from this is definitely not and needs urgent addressing.
Finally as I've just posted, the Omicron variant has made this debate less urgent, the scientific and political necessity of the mandate is making less sense. I very much doubt it will actually come into practice by April.
