Myself, I would say that Corbyn -- though smart enough and moral enough to get most political issues right -- has a horrifically shallow understanding of foreign policy matters. He's been consistently right about Palestine and Northern Ireland largely because of his long-term connections with people who actually know the reality; but where something like Syria is concerned -- and now Ukraine also -- he is hobbled by a naive reliance on shit-rag media and the poisonous liberal scuttlebutt of the Westminster bubble.

He's being used to merely reinforce the establishment Overton Window on Ukraine. If Russia is "... wrong at every level" then its opponents: Ukraine and the West are by inference clearly "right at every level"
It doesn't matter about the nuances of the situation given in the body text; many of which from his Corbyn has tried to talk up, its the quote they were after.

There's a clever quip attributed to US political pundit George Will which encapsulates the modern political media world of headline soundbite and spin- something that Corbyn never quite "got":

"If you’re explaining, you’re losing...’

-It should be his epitaph.

Note he didn’t mention NATO aspirations as though it was a minor matter. Like neutrality wasn’t the main reason for RF’s special operation as well as 8 years of bombing of Donetsk and Lugansk post Maidan that was the stated reason by RF. Whaaa ..

I stopped reading there. Disingenuous and faux-naïf. I don't buy it that he is misinformed.

For info both RFE and RL (Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty) were funded by CIA until about 1995. I think NED took over thereafter i.e. cover for the CIA.

Awful from Corbyn. This jumped out at me:

I was waiting for him to denounce the massive arms shipments and reports of military boots on the ground in Ukraine, and how this is leading to a dangerous escalation and prolongation of the conflict, making a ceasefire much less likely and loss of life much greater until that point, but this was all he said. It almost sounds like he approves of military aid, given how humanitarian aid is an afterthought to agreeing with the questioner that the UK is 'doing enough [...] to help Ukraine'.

Otherwise his 'Putin Bad' level of analysis is just pathetic. Worthy of the BBC.

Does he not get the bigger picture? Or is he pretending that he doesn't as he waffles on about diplomacy, negotiations, peace, ceasefires etc.?

The Ukrainian people are being used in a proxy war in an attempt to weaken Russia (eastward expansion of NATO, Maidan coup, reneging on Minsk accords and shelling the Donbass). Hence the shipment of arms to try to keep the conflict going as long as possible, whatever the cost in terms of human lives and economic blowback.

It is about trying to maintain US global dominance against resistance from Russia and, especially, China.

Corbyn had to be destroyed politically because there was a danger (likely minimal in reality) that he might oppose the Atlanticist/imperial/neoliberal agenda if he ever got into power. That was what the antisemitism smears were all about (and, of course, support for Zionist Israel is a mandatory part of support for US imperialism) and the engineered ambiguity about Brexit.

And, of course, Assange has to be destroyed physically for exposing the crimes of empire.

Corbyn should be calling unequivocally for cessation of arms shipments to Ukraine and, yes, a ceasefire, the acceptance of Ukrainian neutrality, and acceptance of the loss of the Donbass and Crimea.

That he doesn't is embarrassing. As embarrassing as his failure to stand up against the weaponisation of antisemitism used against his allies and supporters, his party and, ultimately, himself.

He's one of the countless WW2-addled fools to whom only *kinetic* war -- 'Blitzkrieg' war -- really feels like it matters: as long as the tanks and bullets are sitting there unused, people like him are happy -- even when what's happening instead is society-destroying regime-change jiggery-pokery and society-destroying economic siege warfare.

Fools like him call for 'ceasefires' and 'diplomacy', even though that just means the neoimperial west re-arming its terrorist proxies; and they want formal 'peace', even though that just means the neoimperial west returning to every crime it carries out without tanks and bullets...

I'm sick to bloody death of this shallowness and stupidity.

Most of you don't seem to have read the same interview as I just have.
And since Corbyn was destroyed by the media's disgusting concerted "anti-semitism" onslaught he didn't even have the b@lls to talk about the media's and the West's ultra-hypocritcal silence on or support for Ukraine's neo-Nazi thugs.

All in all, his performance utterly, cringingly feckless, toothless, gut-less, spineless - he's obviously eager to not alienate his MSM hosts and their audiences and ensure he gets plenty more smart-suited MSM pundit invites in the future.
