I understand that this idea is under serious consideration at the highest levels of government. The chancellor Rishi Sunak has openly said that he is considering the idea of a windfall tax on the energy companies. This matches up with press reports that Treasury officials have been asked to examine the windfall tax plan.
This one action would do so much to ease the cost of living crisis.
I am asking you as my MP to support such a windfall tax and put on pressure via parliament to get the government to go ahead with this plan."
Admittedly it doesn't answer your question....one presumes Sunak will at least pay lip-service to a price cap.....presumes..
