He also neglected to bring charges against Ian Tomlinson (newspaper seller killed by the Met after he was caught up in the "clear up" of the G20 protest).
Also,
In the years before the student protests, it had become common practice to charge protesters with violent disorder under Section 2 of the Public Order Act 1986, the second most serious offence after riot, which carries a five-year maximum sentence. Despite the range of options and charges open to the police and the CPS, they had more recently resorted to using Section 2, treating protesters as if they were football hooligans. Keir Starmer QC was the director of public prosecutions during that period.
Excerpted from "Charged" by Matt Foot (a history of how the police, parliament and the judiciary have attacked protest and slowly eroded the right to do so, well worth a read). Starmer crops up a lot, initially as a "human-rights lawyer" and then "surprisingly" he jumps to the other side becoming the DPP....no amount of cajolery, and no attempts at ethical or social seduction, can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred for the Tory Party...So far as I am concerned they are lower than vermin.
Re: Paul Gambaccini blasts Keir Starmer over ‘witch hunt’ Operation Yewtree
(I've said it here before) I always thought gamabaccini and the cliff richard story were deliberately based on flaky accusations, along with the 'Nick' allegations, so they could later be publicised as miscarriages of justice and be used to provide a reason to drop real investigations into paedos at the top of govenrment/state (eg the leon brittan stuff, maurice oldfield, prince charles' paedo vicar mate, etc etc - they'd already dropped kincora from the paedo inquiry)).
The 'Nick' allegations were very similar to allegation that had been being made since the late 80s as far as i remember (eg in 'scallywag' magazine from liverpool. All the claims in there were not based on what nick (aka carl beech) said afaik (i might be wrong (as usual) - if someone can tie beech together with the original dolphin square/paedo stories in scallywag i'd be grateful (i didn't look that hard tbh)).
(That doesn't mean i think that these people (cliff etc) didn't also do some of this stuff (i dunno), just that those accusations they chose to go with were chosen to be disproven (as far as i know they're all lovely people / or horrible lying paedos - one of the two)

Completely agree. Also the Franklin scandal in the US had a similar tactic employed.
More recently the "Pizzagate" thing is always associated with the one convenient headcase with his assault rifle and all the rest of it got swept under the carpet. Some of the Franklin testimony talked about a ring based in DC with connections to the Dems.
Here's a link to the cancelled YTV documentary on Franklin.

and a link to a "True or not?" thread with lots of links:
Also don't forget the Marc Dutroux case which had similar accusations and if anything an even larger potential scandal.
It is Wiki so very slanted but the "Deaths of potential witnesses" section is hard to ignore (More than 20 potential witnesses in the case have died in mysterious circumstances.).
I wouldn't want anyone to forget that Tom Watson was one of those bigging up the 'Nick' allegations.
I can't think of a better way of protecting elite paedophiles than by making easily disprovable allegations against shlebs, thus making it easier to dismiss all such allegations and to deter police investigations.
Remember how prosecutions into crimes committed by state servants are thrown by the prosecution and on the odd occasion when a jury gives the wrong verdict, the guilty party is rescued by a posse of judges and Daily Heil hacks?Clio the cat, ?
