-Arranging a "cap" on US gas prices? Lol! These people are truly clueless... "Russian gas supplies are currently almost zero because of the Ukraine war..." Umm..no... its because people like Habeck refused to commission Nordstream 2, sanctioned Russia then refused to pay for the gas they NEEDED in Rubles from Nordsteam 1 even though the Russians bent over backwards to accommodate them, and then finally they let the USUK blow the whole pipeline system up...without a squeak of complaint so far. Ummm...so their rapacious best buddies the US can now flog them their gas at seven times the price, which is what they said they would like to do long ago, but people like Habeck chose not to listen. |
-The fall of Europe will be the perfect example of Hubris leading to Nemesis - unfortunately we cant afford to laugh at the utterly stupid people we have in charge because their idiocies are being imposed on us.
Economy Minister Habeck said the EU should negotiate with allies for lower prices, and that EU countries shouldn't outbid each other...
Habeck criticizes "moon prices" for gas

Natural gas prices have increased significantly. Federal Minister of Economics Habeck sees this as a major problem. From his point of view, the EU Commission must intervene on the issue and also talk to friendly supplier countries such as the USA.
Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck has accused several states of charging excessive prices for natural gas, including the USA. The Green politician told the "Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung" that some countries achieved moon prices - including friends. This brings with it problems that need to be discussed.
Referring to the US, Habeck said the US turned to Europe when oil prices shot up. As a result, the national oil reserves in Europe were also tapped. Such solidarity should now also be possible to dampen gas prices.
Minister sees the EU Commission as having an obligation
Habeck sees the EU Commission on the train. It should negotiate with the friendly states. According to the minister, the EU should "bundle its market power and orchestrate smart and synchronized purchasing behavior by the EU states so that individual EU countries do not outbid each other and drive up world market prices". Habeck emphasized that the European market power was "enormous". It just has to be used.
Gas importers have to buy expensive gas
Russian gas supplies are currently almost zero because of the Ukraine war. As a result, importers have to buy expensive alternatives elsewhere in order to be able to honor their contracts. This puts them in financial difficulties themselves. The federal government had therefore initially planned a gas surcharge. All consumers should pay for this. The gas importers should be supported with the money. However, after the nationalization of the importer Uniper, the federal government abandoned this instrument. A gas price brake is now planned . However, the specific form is still open.
