Well a fantastic analysis, which basically tells us we're stuffed. Serious problems described, no solutions proffered. Perhaps an orderly and managed etreat from our energy intensive civilisation might be appropriate? But Liz Truss says "growth, growth, growth", not realising that's exactly what Kier Starmer said a few weeks ago. They are insane. We're all insane.

Thats why "INSULATE BRITAIN" is a no brainer...

You get mass economic activity AND an environmental sustainable outcome.

Of course the UK is such a weird country that it sees such ideas as dangerously revolutionary making it liable you'll get arrested for zealously advocating common sense.

Insulating Britain is the bare minimum needed. That we can't even get this done shows how ####ed we are.

It was a no-brainer fifty years ago and yet a huge lobbying body of British housebuilders kept standards as low as possible completely unnecessarily for half a century.

Beyond the 'intermittency problem', the use of 'renewables' was only ever going to be in addition to rather than a replacement for the continued use of fossil fuels. It adds to 'growth' and attracts subsidies for 'green' capitalists, all beneath a 'woke' veneer.

Off the top of my head, wind and solar require prodigious amounts of concrete, steel, copper, pure silica, rare earths, the precursors to which have to be extracted and processed using fossil fuels and often toxic chemicals.

'Bright Green Lies' by Derek Jensen et al goes into this in great detail. You don't have to sign up to their 'deep' ecocentric position to find this useful.

Many years ago by happenstance I had a UK population map and a geological map of UK coal deposits sitting before me next to each other.

I was astonished although I shouldn't have been at the correlation. Aside from a couple of major ports the majority of the UK population lived on and indeed still lives on the coal deposits.

Access to fossil fuels has structured the entire human geography of this Island the way it is now.
It is a massive job to undo the process that has been not only with us effectively since the Agricultural revolution of the 18th c. but growing steadily till the 1960s.

It strikes me on this matter alone there is a need for a revolutionary government because the alternative is ultimately the destruction of the ordinary people of Britain by what can only be described as a Malthusian elite.
