The only movie missing from Holocaust 'season' is "Escape from Sobibor" - I wonder why?

Lots of films on TV this week with a WW2 Holocaust theme with one notable exception - the excellent "Escape from Sobibor". If you don't know the film, try and catch it when it eventually reappears. Its low-key documentary style tells the story of the mass escape from Sobibor Concentration Camp after an armed uprising led by a Russian POW and a Polish tailor. Although made in the Cold War years of the 1980's, it had no trouble acknowledging its Russian hero. Such a film couldn't be made today for the same reason that it's missing from the Holocaust season - it told the truth about the Camp's Ukrainian prison guards who generally out-Nazi'd the German version.

This is a 36-minute documentary -- fairly recent by the look of it -- on the revolt by prisoners at this camp, and it does mention the Ukrainian guards who aided the SS in shooting the escaping inmates. It also details how an "ordinary" German from a working class background became a fervent Nazi and the deputy commander of the camp.It will cost the UK taxpayer £132bn to decommission all the UK’s civil nuclear sites and the work will not be completed for another 120 years, according to latest estimates.
