Their take on Syria was a joke and left DN with no credibility whatsoever. Just another bunch of "Party line" US hegemonists pretending to be radicals.

it seems like a number of these supposedly, radical platforms, which appear critical of the Democratic Party's 'cautious' leadrship and policies; are really about 'hooking and reeling in' people, for the Democrats.

A range of criticism is allowed, but then, as long as one turns out to vote for the Democrats, thats all that matters. A bit like the 'Squad'.

There's also this thing which I've started to label, the Chomsky Paradox. He tears holes in the Democrats all the time and has done for decades, but then come election time he always says, vote Democrat, because the Republicans are much worse.

I think it was excellent, rather good, when they examined the war against Iraq and Afghanistan, but that was under Republican administrations. As soon as the Democrats were in charge, things changed, and especially after Obama was replaced by Trump, who was perceived as the president from the deepest depths of Hell and was such a shock, that he could ever be elected, that the 'progressives' totally lost the plot and desparately looked around for almost 'supernatural' explanations for how such a nightmare was possible. This made the progressives/left incredibly vulnerable to clever manipulation and targetted propaganda from the resourceful 'Deep State' actors, who skilfully nudged the progressives into the dead end of gender and identity politics and away from class and anti-war perspectives.

Not considering any particular issue on Democracy Now, it was quoted/posted quite frequently here on TLN (and before). At the end of the day, Aaron Mate cut his teeth there. They did make a notable turn towards Dems/corps and I stopped watching. It was quite clear to all on the this board that the smell was bad, and the stones were choking (Zappa). If someone can remember the timeline .. kudos

We're, after all, talking about the US here. That's the context for Democracy Now. There, politics split into two main camps and nothing really imbetween, competing, or an alternative on a national basis. Either one believed in Obama's version of the future, or one supported Trump's 'vision.' For Democracy Now, it was Obamaism, or nothing.

I remember when Obama said that he'd be taking corp-0-rat money as well as widows' mites. I thought that up to then people were enjoying the moment. Apparently there are still people who don't think that he's a monster.
