...but unfortunately it does. As Alastair Crooke points out in the interview Tomsky posts above, the politicians don't even have to argue a proper case anymore to justify some new banality, wickedness or stupidity because the media has the public pre-prepped tenderised and oven-ready for them beforehand.

When did most people have the ability to read newspapers? Listen to the radio, watch telly? The crisis of legitimacy of the fake left began in the late 60s and that is why Liarbour has been able to marginalise the working class. It came back to bite them at the last election.

-One to read out and several to listen. Montesquieu in his notes on England in 1730 noted that the workers in the towns of England had extensive access to printed news sheets and papers. He was also taken aback by how licentious these were.

Wake up Keith... There been printed propaganda since the advent of the printing press itself. Here's Walter Raleigh complaining about the extent of Spanish propaganda concerning the Revenge in the Azores in the 16th c, echoing the propaganda claims made a few short weeks ago about the Ivan Khurs: “no marvel that the Spaniard should seek by false and slanderous pamphlets, advisoes, and letters, to cover their own loss and to derogate from others their own honours, especially in this fight being performed far off.”recalling that at the time of the Spanish Armada, when the Spaniards “purposed the invasion” of England, they published “in sundry languages, in print, great victories in words, which they pleaded to have obtained against this realm; and spread the same in a most false sort over all parts of France, Italy, and elsewhere.”

Of course the background to this is the Reformation... in which absolute masses of propaganda was printed and distributed by both sides and widely disseminated.

Even before the press was firmly entrenched it took place in other ways as it always had. Henry the eighth for example had Holbein (who also painted his well known propaganda portrait: also copied and distributed en mass) and teams of others arrange endless public celebrations and displays of power which cost him many many millions in modern terms: (-he had gutted the church of its lands and wealth so could well afford it)...think of Charlies recent 100 million coronation which was essentially another propaganda event and then repeat-wash-repeat.

My wife and I have got tickets to Waters' gig in Birmingham next Wednesday.

We got rail tickets. But we discovered today that there's a rail strike on Wednesday. So have had to book coach tickets for the outward journey.

Hopefully get compo on the rail tickets.

A bugger all told.

With all this shit going down even more determined and pleased to be going to the gig.

Waters is one of the very few rock 'stars' to stick his head above the parapet. Respect.

I can’t find it now but I read today that he during the concert actually paid tribute to 16 people who were murdered by violent repressive regimes. Anne Frank and Shireen Abu Aklhe were two of the 16.

We seem to have slipped back into the 19th century. Today, in what is still labeled a 'democracy', we have no, serious, parliamentary opposition anymore to speak of. Not a single MP willing or able to ask a relevant question about foreign policy in Ukraine or oppose it.

One, giant, 'coservative' party with three equally horrible factions, or wings, fighting like vultures over the rotting carcas of parliamentary power. Slightly different plumages, slightly different eating habits and slightly different calling patterns; but vultures none them same.

The media, is even worse.
