I'm posting this, because it makes a lot of sense, but also because it's from the pages of the American Conservative.
I think it illustrates, as if we need reminding, just how rabidly rightwing and Neocon soaked, 'liberal/left' opinion, for example in the Guardian and the BBC, what passes for 'debate' has become.
Traditional conservatives probably have a more realistic view of the world and a more realistic view of human nature and are thus perhaps better able to accept a multipolar and multicultural world that allows other societies to develop in their own way and at their own pace.
Ideologues, whether of the left or right, think their way is the only way and can't resist trying to impose 'their way' on the rest of the world however dire the consequences turn out to be.
Having said that, some conservatives and others, who are realists when it comes to geopolitics, seem to lose the plot when it comes to accepting scientific realities such as human-induced climate change.
Conservatives have managed to reconstruct/reinvigorate/realign themselves from grass roots upwards..
As Mitch McConnell, both symbolically and actually, embodies the living death of the old right, conservatives (in the seat of empire that is, I don’t mean UK Tories) have entirely reconstructed, reinvigorated themselves, and realigned themselves with their roots.
Credit to them, actually. They may have somewhat re-entered the real world (temporarily at least) after the world of illusions entirely reached the end of its viable lifespan under George W. Bush with his horrific failures on the world stage.
They seem to have rather wisely said “here you go” to the most genocidal of the neocons and gifted them to the Democratic establishment - who eternally aim to prove they are worthy of the imperial crown (i.e. not soft).
Nothing earth-shattering, but heartfelt and 'of the moment' in a way I haven't seen for years, at least not in the mainstream:

Also this tune gained some traction/notoriety and is pretty catchy though there's plenty to criticise about the overall sentiment:
Again, where's the left? Seems like the artists have nothing relevant to say post-covid when so many revealed how happy they were with governments seeking 'total control', wanting to 'know what you think' and 'know what you do'. If they don't come up with some response then the field will be open to the right and there will be no grounds for complaint when the anti-welfare, anti-immigrant, anti-abortion, anti-climate populism wins in the minds of the working class.
