Not sure. If the accusation is that he didn't condemn Hamas then he has indeed submitted to that establishment reflex. A scan of his twitter doesn't show any apologies per se, and no reference to the Israeli politician's tantrum against him:
Oct 25 To ease suffering, make the delivery of aid easier & safer, and facilitate the release of hostages, I reiterate my appeal for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire.
I salute my @UN colleagues & humanitarian partners in Gaza risking their lives to provide aid to those in need.
Oct 25 Thankfully, some humanitarian relief is finally getting into Gaza.
But it is a drop of aid in an ocean of need.
The people of Gaza need continuous aid delivery at a level that corresponds to the enormous needs. It must be delivered without restrictions.
Oct 25 The grievances of the Palestinian people cannot justify the horrific attacks by Hamas.
Those horrendous attacks cannot justify the collective punishment of the Palestinian people.
Oct 25 The situation in the Middle East is growing more dire by the hour.
At a crucial moment like this, it is vital to be clear on the fundamental principle of respecting & protecting civilians.
Oct 25 Today is #UNDay, marking 78 years since the UN Charter entered into force.
At this critical hour, I appeal to all to pull back from the brink before the violence claims even more lives and spreads even farther.
Oct 24 After meeting with families whose loved ones have been taken hostage, I reaffirm my call for the immediate and unconditional release of all the hostages held in Gaza.
Nothing can justify the killing, wounding, and abducting of civilians by Hamas.
Oct 23 Thousands of civilians have lost their lives amid the violence in the Middle East.
Among them, 35 of our @UNRWA colleagues—humanitarians, teachers—have been killed in Gaza since 7 October.
We mourn their loss & stand with colleagues doing all they can to assist those in need.
Oct 22 We cannot lose sight of the only realistic foundation for a true peace & stability: a two-State solution.
Israelis must see their legitimate needs for security materialized.
Palestinians must see their legitimate aspirations for an independent State realized.
Oct 21 My appeal today from the Middle East:
Immediate, unrestricted & sustained humanitarian aid for civilians in Gaza.
Immediate & unconditional release of all hostages.
Immediate & dedicated efforts to prevent the spread of violence, which is increasing the risk of spillover.
Oct 21 A 20-truck convoy of the Egyptian Red Crescent is moving today into Gaza.
The people of Gaza need a commitment for much more – a continuous delivery of aid at the scale that is needed.
We are working nonstop with all relevant parties to make it happen.
Oct 20 It’s impossible to be at the Rafah crossing & not feel heartbroken.
Behind these walls there are 2 million people in Gaza with no water, food, medicine, fuel.
On this side, these trucks have what they need.
We need to make them move—as soon as possible, as many as necessary.
Oct 19 Civilians in Gaza desperately need core services and supplies.
We need rapid, unimpeded humanitarian access.
We need food, water, medicine and fuel now.
We need it at scale and we need it to be sustained.
Oct 19 I am in Egypt on a humanitarian mission and to witness @UN preparations to deliver massive support to civilians in Gaza.
Humanitarians need to be able to get the aid in - and they need to be able to distribute it safely.
Oct 18 I call for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in the Middle East to ease the epic human suffering.
Too many lives - and the fate of the entire region - hang in the balance.
Oct 17 I am horrified by the killing of hundreds of Palestinian civilians in a strike on a hospital in Gaza today, which I strongly condemn. My heart is with the families of the victims. Hospitals and medical personnel are protected under international humanitarian law.
Oct 15 The @UN has stocks available of food, water, medical supplies & fuel in Egypt, Jordan, the West Bank & Israel.
They can be dispatched within hours.
To ensure delivery, our staff need to be able to bring these supplies into and throughout Gaza safely, and without impediment.
Oct 15 Each one of these two objectives are valid in themselves. They should not become bargaining chips and they must be implemented because it is the right thing to do.
