As the pro-Israel narrative refuses to go further back than October 7 for context, can I likewise choose a date (say the day the Israeli air force bombed Gaza killing thousands of civilians) as the starting point and ignore everything that went before? Julia Hartley-Brewer said something to that effect in her interview with Chris Williamson when he was seeking to put events in context: "We can't go raking up all that Middle Eastern history stuff, we'll be here all day."
So, friends, feel free to choose your date ......

Years and years ago, I named this disgusting tactic 'Day-1-ism', in an attempt to make it more visible to people.
Doesn't seem to have caught on. Anyone got a better term?

One of my daughters, who's a Doctor, has a couple of chums who have roots in Palestine and Russia, a 'marriage of two evils'. They are two sweet young women, both Doctors. They have been energized by what's going on, out demonstrating a couple of times a week. They are... destraught. It's hard for them to observe the grotesque bias and hypocrisy of the country they were born in, but one that still seems so... alien, at least the people who run it.
