Mercouris again, at end of video he reads out a tweet he thinks worth it......
Posted by John Monro on February 28, 2024, 10:08 pm
This tweet is from a chap called David Sacks (not Sachs, not Jeffrey, who has earned a lot of credit over the last few years for his informed, humane and trenchant criticism of the US and its allies, not just in the matter of the Ukraine - Russian conflict, but also in economics (his field of expertise)in social policy and in geopolitics generally)
This Sacks is someone i've not heard of previously. A South African, like Musk, made himself a rich US entrepreneur with pretty right wing views and some history of contention, he calls himself, like Judge Napolitano, a "Libertarian". Posters here would have little in common with either man ideologically, but in Ukraine we have an agreement as to its folly. Musk replies to the tweet with one word "Accurate"- they are as you'd imagine, long time friends.
The war in Ukraine is based on lies — lies about how it started, how it’s going, and how it will end.
We are told that Ukraine is winning when in fact it is losing. We are told that the war makes NATO stronger when in fact it is depleting it. We are told that Ukraine’s biggest problem is a lack of funds from the U.S. Congress when in fact the West can’t produce enough ammunition — a problem that will take years to fix. We are told that Russia is suffering greater casualties when in fact Ukraine is running out of soldiers — another problem money can’t fix.
We are told that the world is with us when in fact the Global Majority believes U.S. policy is the height of folly. We are told that there is no opportunity to make peace when in fact we have rejected multiple opportunities for a negotiated settlement. We are told that if Ukraine keeps fighting, it will improve its negotiating position when in fact the terms will only get much worse than what was already available and rejected.
Nevertheless the lies will succeed in dragging out the war. Congress will appropriate more funds. Russia will take more territory. Ukraine will mobilize more young men and women to feed into the meat grinder. Discontent will mount. Eventually there will be a crisis in Kiev and the Zelensky government will be toppled.
And then, when the war is finally lost, when the whole country lays in smoldering ruins on a funeral pyre of their own making, the liars will say “well we tried.” Having prevented any alternative, having smeared anyone who told the truth as puppets for the enemy, the liars will say “We did our best. We stood up to Putin.”
In fact, they will claim, we would have succeeded but for the fifth column of Putin apologists who stabbed the Ukrainians in the back. Then, having shifted blame and patted themselves on the back, they will blithely move on to the next war, as they moved onto Ukraine after their disasters in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The lies are comprehensive — but they will work.

The truth is, the punters haven't got patience or staying power to put up with wind-baggery Mercouris has to offer (or the wall paper for that matter, which I never watch).
I listen to it every night, more or less, as well as The Duran .. but not so hot on Christoforou. Not serious enough.
Bit boring when he gets into Ukr villages being taken. I am more impressed with the bigger picture, which he lays out quite well and the reports he provides from the MSM. For example, I'd never read Torygraph if I can help it. He reads it for me. Essentially, this should be the job of a dedicated TLN-er interested in what our media has to say ... I couldn't do it .
My advice: If you have a particular tweet or reference to whatever, provide the timeline. Ta.
Re: Mercouris again, at end of video he reads out a tweet he thinks worth it......
Yes, he admits to his own prolixity. Actually, in the Duran I find Christoforou is a good foil, he keeps his observations short, and he asks Mercouris good questions on which he can dilate.
The tweet was in the text under the vid, which I didn't originally read .. thanks
Alex Christoforou as co-presenter in the Duran channel is fine, I agree.
Meanwhile he has his own channel where he discusses geopolitics whilst walking around Cyprus, or around Europe, or in Russia etc. This show is on the daily basis. Whilst sometimes he provides useful info, he fools around too much for my liking.
For example, from his own channel, from yesterday:

I managed to watch that vid from yesterday, and he was serious then. Hence it didn't illustrate my point. Today, not so:
… all we can do is tiptoe around the elephant in the room - the one that pre-emptively rendered it impossible for anyone anywhere to call its name, and that we know made it impossible because we have tracked that in real time, but cannot now say that either.
A comment under yesterday’s MoA:
“Even McNamara finally confessed to having a shred of conscience. Not this crowd.“
What most western countries need more than anything is a government that actually represents the people, and the Gaza issue has really highlighted this.
And there is no chance that such governments will be elected since even such candidates do not appear for election. And considering why this is, is the nub of the issue - as it adopts just a slightly different flavor from country to country.

I gave up on Mercouris last year as he does go on.
Are you saying.... I don,t like how they say it so I,ve no interest in what they have to say. I too have trouble with the form but I put up with it for the sake of the content, some of which I disagree with by the way.
Yea sometimes life is too short. I like comprehensive but Mercouris needs to do some pre-editing but I guess the wallpaper will change before that happens...
At the mo, I have time i.e. being unemployed. Hence I can listen to the whole episode/s. You just don't get these type of updates anywhere in toto. Bits here, bits there, but not the wholistic comprehension. But then you have to listen or else. I mean having to read Torygraph and letting us know deserves a medal of some sort. I could give you many examples, but I am just bored with incomprehension here by nay-sayers. Bring on the shooting squad, I can't see me changing my mind. You just don't get it!
In addition ..

Do have a listen to the last few statements by Mercouris today mentioning GG at 01:10:15. Just sayin'
I am running out of things to say before getting abusive : ) .. which naturally I stray away from since I am polite hehe.

I prefer terse and pared and Mercouris is anything but. It's hard to listen or watch a " talking head" show for that length of time without drifting off and missing stuff. Even not watching but just listening becomes quite difficult.
I reckon with some presentational and editorial management he would reach a much larger audience...which would be better all round.
Bottom line is tho "gift-horse-in-mouth" : he's generaly well informed & thoughtful and the public are getting it for fek all.

Looking at the stats he is getting a wide audience so far. There is a grifter part where it tells me that he is trying to achieve certain numbers to bring in YT income. Fair enough, he has family to feed etc.
Disregarding all that, considering the content, to my mind he brings in more understanding than most, unless you fall asleep listening to it all.

Absolutely. Perhaps the Duran episodes do the trick. They've shortened it now to reduced and informative segments. I just didn't want to post them at the mo etc since there was this backlash on TLN re Mercouris. May do so in the future if they deserve note.
