-Anyone who thinks you can run a legal system based on "hurt feelings" is a moron.
It's yet another utterly lunatic retreat into a subjective pre-enlightenment world: one step nearer the return of witchcraft trials for hexing and other imaginary crimes.
I smell a rat (same as Craig) that the real reason is to enable the state to persecute individuals until cases reach the ECJ/ECHR.The last working-class hero in England.

Police Scotland have produced a video to raise awareness of the introduction of this new Act featuring a cartoon orange critter (a reference to Trump, I wonder) - yer actual 'hate monster'. Apparently, a hate monster dwells in all Scots, especially socially and economically disadvantaged, white working class men.
In the video Orange Critter explains what can happen when the 'hate monster' gets loose and ends with the chilling words "and before you know what's happened, you've committed a hate crime".
I think a lot of police love this sort of stuff - so, so much easier than actually doing their job and pursuing thieves, rapists and killers.

"...introduction of this new Act featuring a cartoon orange critter (a reference to Trump, I wonder) - yer actual 'hate monster'. Apparently, a hate monster dwells in all Scots..."
Mention the word "0range" and "hate" in the same sentence to anyone in Scotland and it's not Trump that comes to mind but the "Loyal Orange Institution of Scotland". ...Looks like somebody wants to revisit the sectarian wars of the Reformation: not clever.

Meet Police Scotland's 'Hate Monster' who 'loves it when you get angry' and lives in 'men aged 18-30'
The bizarre character was highlighted this week amid the row over Humza Yousaf's Hate Crime law but it's not got the reaction his creators hoped for

Humza Yousaf's new Hate Crime law is set to be enforced from April 1, much to the alarm of anyone who values free speech. The legislation created the new, vague offence of 'stirring up hatred' and has led to concerns people could be jailed for calling someone a man even if they biologically are.
Details have continued to emerge over the past few days of Orwellian reporting centres and the resources Police Scotland will throw at the law. While the likes of garden thefts will now be ignored by cops, every single report of Hate Crime is going to be investigated.
And one weapon in the battle to turn Scotland into a dystopian state ruled by the SNP has also come out of the woodwork this week - Police Scotland's 'Hate Monster'. Potentially a distant relation to the Honey Monster, he's actually been about for a while, but many are only getting their first glimpse of the Pepperami-like character (or a "hairy condom" as one person described him) bosses seem to think will make Scotland a better place.
The Hate Monster campaign comes complete with a cringe-worthy video branded "embarrassing" by Tory MSP Murdo Fraser. In the clip, we're told "he" (pronouns people!) will be there "feeding aff the emotions" whenever someone feels "insecure or angry".
He'll get "bigger and bigger until he's weighing ye doon" and will "make you want to have a go at somebody" and "vent your anger just because folk look or act different fae you". According to Police Scotland, the Hate Monster wants "you to show you're better than them".
And then "before you know it, you've committed a hate crime". After this, you won't feel any better though, you'll "just feel worse" because the "hate just 'hings aboot like a bad smell". Thankfully, there is hope for us as we're "better than that". We've got "all this energy" that we should "do something positive" with - "the Hate Monster disnae like that, in fact he hates it".
All through the video the suspiciously phallic-shaped character grows huge to almost fill the screen before wilting back down to his original size. Presumably that's not a subliminal message about the sex shops where you can report hate crimes.
The video ends with the message: "Go on, be good to yourself. Don't feed the Hate Monster". The Police Scotland website makes it clear who the Hate Monster lives in - "young men aged 18-30", particularly those from "socially excluded communities who are heavily influenced by their peers".
It remains to be seen how much of an influence the Hate Monster will have on them, but judging from the reaction to the video on social media, police shouldn't hold their breath. There was plenty of comment when political commentator Alex Massie shared the clip on Wednesday.
Former Scottish Labour leader Johann Lamont said: "Now I can hear the patronising patter in good old Glaswegian I am even more enraged. The target audience is clearly both monstrously bigoted and 5 years old…"
And one person quipped: "I had no idea the Pepperami sausage was THAT much of an animal". And Dennis Noel Kavanagh, a director at the Gay Men's Network, added: "This would all be so much easier if Police Scotland just found and nicked this 'hate monster' bloke".Tell your story; Ask a question; Interpret generously http://storybythethroat.wordpress.com/tell-ask-listen/
