Recently heard the shocking story of Debenhams.
Bought by private equity which sold all the stores and then made the company lease them back. Just took the money from the sales as dividends. Asset stripped and destroyed by debt. The way of things are a political choice not an inevitability.

After Theodore II unified Ethiopia, he sacked Tigrē to retain the loyalty of his feudal host with loot but it was the beginning of the end of his rule. I fear that as the boss class devours us no-one will ride to the rescue, we'll have to do it.

My son bought a house done up head to toe in "Artex"...In an array of diverse and hideous ummm..."designs": Like living inside a reversed Chrismas cake. Nice enough house but an interior decor disaster and very hard to fix.

It was going to cost him thousands to get it sorted and he didn't have the money, so I got roped in.

Anywise, after ten days I've plastered the lot...from top to bottom...did I mention the ceilings were artexed too? Oh gawd...

Tomorrow I shall be hopefully finished this ten hour a day hell and thankfully get to go home...

in orange and brown 70's " designs" I die a little inside...

Mind you I think the nineties were a very close second in the tastelessness scale...
